THERE SHE IS...

In the words of Burt Parks, "There she is, Miss America..." were the words one Havasu Toastmasters hoped would be sung to her. But unfortunately, winning several individual segments, and second runner-up overall, was the best Cara Moore would achieve for her months of practice and rehearsing for the Miss LaPaz County Pageant. Miss Moore joined Toastmasters to get guidance for her speech preparation and delivery part of the competition. Her good showing got her some needed scholarships for her future education. Cara has been a member of the local Toastmasters club for about a year and says, "Toastmasters got me where I am, I'm not quitting now"

And from the Ashes

From a club that had a strength of seven members last year, we are proud to celebrate the fact one of our new members took the fight to Phoenix and competed in the Y-1 Area International Speech contest, and won First Runner-up. A new recruit to the club, Paul Bailey, came to the area from Portland, Oregon area and demonstrates the t qualities of a championship speaker. He is also an author and a therapist. He just entered the life of a RV'er. Great Job Paul!!
